Wilde’s Brain Food
Wilde has re-opened here in Tartu and I stopped by yesterday for a quick lunch on the terrace.. BTW, the gazpacho was first rate, and the ”feeling” on the terrace was peaceful. In was cool in the shade even under the hot afternoon sun. As it has always been.
After lunch things felt a lot better. I thought … like for Alexander after Gaugamela. Like for The Man Who Would be King when the locals began to think he was a god.
In a crisis (as we have here in the Baltics these days), this feeling of being in control can be hard to find. But it is important. Whether you personally make it through (cf Chinese Gordon at Khartoum did not), you need the strength to say “no” to silly ideas (a link to a post by Brad Feld). You need to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem.
BTW, that is Bill Strickland’s good advice. In a place where people have troubles, it is always good to look like part of the solution rather than part of the problem.
To look that way, you need to feel that way.
