Legal Writing for Dumies

I was in Tallinn today teaching part one of a legal writing course for young associates. Why ”Legal Writing for Dummies”? It is not because the participants are dummies. To the contrary. Writing ”for dummies” means achieving a level of clarity and persuasiveness so that even a dummy gets it.

Sad to say, most lawyers are running the opposite direction — trying to sound smart. Silly, silly. They just don’t get it.
