Ten questions
On Thursday evening I spoke with a small group here in Tartu to talk about societal transition and community building. I addressed these ten questions
1. Where do ideas come from?
2. Is poverty an opportunity?
3. What are Estonian “strengths and weaknesses”?
4. Why is institutional failure so common?
5. Is aggregation different than curation?
6. Has Estonia “completed” its transition?
7. Is there such a thing as a “rights based” community?
8. How does one build community?
9. What skills does one need to be a leader?
10. What kind of education offers these skills?
We had a lively and interesting discussion, and we watched Bill Strickland’s presentation at TED. BTW, Bill is a pretty amazing community builder. Here is a quote from Bill
If you want to involve yourself in the lives of people who have been given up on, you have to look like the solution and not the problem.
