Leadership and Fun

Generally, I don’t like using sports analogies in discussing leadership. It’s not because sports doesn’t produce great leadership stories. It does. But I think these stories (and BTW military stories) are a bit over used. But I do make exceptions, and will make one today.

For many years, the New York Jets (an American professional football team) had a reputation for being losers. The stress levels got higher and higher as a succession of coaches and players failed to turn the club around. But they surprised everyone this year, almost making it to the Super Bowl. One reason is that their new coach is having fun on the job. And he is making it fun for his players too. Fred Wilson wrote about this the other day. Here is the link.

So, are you having fun at work? If not … what’s going on?
