I am a big fan of Bob Cringely’s blog. And now I am a big fan of Bob Cringely’s project to market a lost video interview that he did back in 1995 with Steve Jobs. He posts about it here.
What is the big deal? Well, first of all, the content. The video captures Jobs at an interesting moment in his career — before his greatest successes. We get a glimpse of a brilliant mind trying to share important stuff at a critical moment in time. But there is more — there is the equally interesting story of Bob Cringely trying to market the video. He is using a 3 stage release (1) a theater run, (2) DVD, and then (3) video on demand. And he is doing it without a lot of marketing support from Hollywood. I am very curious whether Cringely can get the audience that he wants.
